Residential Student Care Process

The purpose of the Residential Student Care Process is to connect students who have experienced some type of crisis with resources that promote their health, well-being, and success as a student. When there is concern that a student may need support, minimally a member of the REHS team will check in and provide resources with the student through Care Follow-Up. If a significant incident has occurred, a full-time staff member will offer to meet with the student to review resources and to support reintegration into the community in a Care Meeting.

Pack Up. Pitch In.

Pack Up. Pitch In. is a division-wide effort to reduce residence hall waste during move-in and move-out periods. By increasing the visibility and capacity of recycling options at busy times of year, Pack Up. Pitch In. diverts a large amount of materials from landfills. We encourage students to pack up undesirable room items and turn them into valuable resources. Large items and appliances should never be placed into dumpsters!

Each neighborhood provides you the opportunity to live, dine, study and find your own Spartan community. So, no matter where you live on-campus, you have access to resources to help you find success at MSU!

Spring Semester Housing

The following is Spring 2025 housing information for incoming, transfer and current MSU students.

Spring Incoming Students

As you prepare to begin at Michigan State University this spring semester, we want you to be aware that on-campus housing availability is extremely limited. Due to the size of the fall incoming class, on-campus housing for the spring incoming class is not guaranteed. We have outlined options for spring admitted students below.

2025-26 On-Campus Housing Sign-Up for Second Year+ Students

If you are currently in your second year+, living on campus and interested in living on campus in one of our campus apartments, or residence hall rooms, sign-up will begin in October 2024.

Current on-campus residents in their second year or beyond who are interested in an on-campus apartment at University Village or 1855 Place, a residence hall apartment, single room in Owen Hall, or a double room in select residence halls will complete the 2025-26 Housing Interest Form in their My Housing account.

First-Year Roommates at MSU

A big part of the college experience is living with a roommate! All incoming Spartans will have a roommate during their first year at Michigan State. As part of the housing assignment process, students can preference to room with a fellow Spartan or be assigned a roommate at random.

No matter who you room with, you’ll likely be spending a lot of time with that person, so have fun getting to know each other!

Below you will find information and answers to the commonly asked questions surrounding roommates at MSU.
