Spring Semester Housing

The following is Spring 2026 housing information for incoming, transfer and current MSU students.

Incoming Spring First-Year Students

As you prepare to begin at Michigan State University this spring semester, we’re excited to share information about spring on-campus housing with you!

Incoming first-year students will live on campus as part of the two-year live-on requirement. You will pay your housing application fee, complete your advance payment and sign your housing contract, which will open in your My Housing account the week of October 6, and be due by December 10, 2025.

Keep In Mind

  • Housing assignments will be shared the week of December 15.
  • Students will be assigned space in a double room with a roommate.
  • Due to space availability, we cannot take specific roommate requests.
  • There are a limited number of housing exceptions you may be eligible for if you wish to live off campus.

In the meantime, if you have specific needs related to disability accommodations, please reach out to our partners in the Resource Center for Persons with Disabilities (RCPD)

Most new students will move into their assignment the week of January 5, 2026, with the specific date depending upon their orientation schedule or specific programmatic needs. Look forward to more information on specific dates in December.

Current MSU Students and Incoming Transfer Students

This fall, the Housing Assignments Office will be accepting housing requests from students not currently residing on campus, including transfer students, to live in an on-campus space for spring 2026.

If you are interested in potentially living on campus for the spring 2026 semester, complete the Housing Request Form in your My Housing account. You will be able to indicate if you’re interested in an apartment, single room and/or double room. Please submit requests by December 5, 2025.  We will offer available space throughout the fall semester.

Keep In Mind

  • We will do our best to house students interested in living on campus, however, completing the request form does not guarantee housing.
  • We will let students know if they will be offered an on-campus space in December.
  • Students will not be required to pay their housing application fee or advance payment or sign their housing contract until they are offered and accept a space.
  • If a student is not offered a space, they should explore off-campus options. Transfer students are not required to live on campus.

If you have any other questions or concerns, please contact the Housing Assignments Office. Thank you and Go Green!
