Important Dates 

Fall Break: Monday, October 21 & Tuesday, October 22 - All Halls Open

Thanksgiving Break: Thursday, November 28 - Sunday, December 1 - Reduced Service Center Hours 

Fall Final Exams: Monday, December 9 - Friday, December 13 

Residence Halls Close: 8 p.m. Friday, December 13

Fall Semester Late Stay: Friday, December 13 & Saturday, December 14 - Reduced Service Center Hours 

Winter Break: Friday, December 13 - Friday, January 10 - Limited service operations for residents with an approved winter break stay. Residents without an approved winter break stay must depart.

Residence Halls Open for Move-In & Returning Students: 8 a.m. Saturday, January 11

Residence Halls Return to Full Service: 8 a.m. Sunday, January 12

Spring Break: Friday, February 28 - Saturday, March 8 - All Halls Open, reduced Service Center Hours 

Spring Final Exams: Monday, April 28 - Friday, May 2

Spring Term for Residence Halls Ends: Friday, May 2

Spring Semester Late Stay: Friday, May 2 & Saturday, May 3

 

Service Centers

Your residence hall service center is your one-stop shop for check-in and check-out, picking up mail and packages, grabbing a temporary key or access card, exchanging linen packets, checking out a vacuum or broom, and much more! 

Primary Service Centers - During the fall and spring semesters, each neighborhood has a primary service center that is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. During breaks, the Owen Service Center is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Break Operations

For break periods, residence halls may have limited service operations. See the list below for each break and what you can expect for service operations. Visit the Eat at State website for details on culinary operations. 

Fall Break 

  • No classes for students 
  • Normal operations for residence halls
  • All-you-care-to-eat dining halls open, reduced retail operations. See dining hours

Thanksgiving Break

  • No classes for students 
  • The residence halls will be locked 24/7 for this period 
  • Students do not check out of the residence halls or notify REHS of occupancy plans 
  • Reduced service center operations. Primary Service Centers will be open 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. 
  • Residents will be able to enter their residence halls through the main doors only
  • RAs will be on duty between 7 p.m.- 7 a.m.
  • If a resident is locked out of their hall, they can call the RA on Duty number and visit their Primary Service Center at 7 a.m. next day for loaner items 
  • Facilities available 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. over break period
  • Reduced dining hours. The Thanksgiving Break period is not included in the dining plan contract

Winter Break

  • Residence halls are locked 24/7 for this period   
  • Access is turned off for all residents unless they have been approved for Winter Break Stay 
  • Service Centers will have reduced operations 
  • The Owen Service Center is 24 hours/7 days  
  • All Service Centers closed on University Holidays, except Owen (24/7) and University Village Community Center (7 a.m. - 7 p.m.)  
  • RAs will be on duty between 7 p.m.- 7 a.m. 
  • If a resident is locked out of their hall, they can call the RA on duty number and visit lock their Primary Service Center at 7 a.m. next day for loaner items  
  • Residents will be able to enter their residence halls through the main doors only 
  • Students must apply on My Housing to be approved to stay in hall over winter break   
  • The cost for break stay will be billed to student account
  • A winter break dining plan is included in winter break stay, accessible at open dining locations
  • Facilities available 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. over break period, with some neighborhood-specific modifications
  • Student security rounds will be completed on all University Holidays and weekends twice per day

Spring Break 

  • No classes for students 
  • The residence halls will be locked 24/7 for this period 
  • Students do not check out of the residence halls or notify REHS of occupancy plans 
  • Reduced service center operations. Primary Service Centers will be open 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. 
  • Residents will be able to enter their residence halls through the main doors only
  • RAs will be on duty between 7 p.m.- 7 a.m.
  • If a resident is locked out of their hall, they can call the RA on duty number and visit their Primary Service Center at 7 a.m. next day for loaner items 
  • Facilities available 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. over break period
