Move-in Timeline

This August, we will be facilitating a two-day move-in for incoming students. Our goal of offering a two-day move-in is to create a more predictable experience for incoming Spartans. By spreading students out across two-days we hope to better manage traffic flow, elevator use, green carts, and volunteers. Using even/odd floor designations is a common practice at universities as large as ours.

  • Students who live on an even floor (2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12) will move in on Saturday, August 24.
  • Students who live on an odd floor (Ground, 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11) will move in on Sunday, August 25.

Students will also be assigned a time-slot for their specific move-in day. Your correct move-in time is listed in your My Housing account. Please adhere to the assigned day and time-slot in order to make the experience as smooth as possible.

If a student has extenuating circumstances where they cannot move in on their assigned day, they should follow the same time-slot they were given for their assigned day. For example, if a student cannot move in on Saturday, and their assigned time is 10-11 a.m., they should arrive between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Sunday.

If a student needs to move in on Friday, August 23, instead of Saturday or Sunday, they must submit an early move-in request form in their My Housing account. We will email students when this form becomes available. Early move-in requests will only be granted for extenuating circumstances and students will be charged the nightly room rate for Friday night or earlier. Please note, dining plans begin on Saturday, August 24.

Returning Students

Returning students will move into their fall assignments, Monday, August 26. More information will be emailed later this summer.

Move-In Early...For Free When you Join the Welcome Team!

We are looking for welcome team members who will assist with the move-in process, including greeting new students and their families, cart distribution, moving belongings, directing parking, and taking part in welcome activities that will help ease new students into this transition.

Applications will be open through August 16. If chosen for these positions, students will move into their residence hall early, enjoy free meals during move-in, and will be given a free volunteer t-shirt. Welcome Team members must be available to move in early on Thursday, August 22, attend a mandatory orientation on Friday, August 23 from 12-2 p.m., and are expected to work shifts between Saturday, August 24 and Monday, August 26.

If this sounds like something you are interested in, log on to your My Housing account to apply!
