Residence Education and Housing Services works tirelessly to ensure that all residents feel safe, secure, and welcomed to the Michigan State University community. We want you to know that we take incidents of discrimination and/or harassment very seriously.
Office of Civil Rights - Investigation, Support and Resolution (OCR ISR) reviews concerns related to discrimination and harassment based on age, color, gender, gender identity, disability status, height, marital status, national origin, political persuasion, race, religion, sexual orientation, veteran status, and weight under the MSU Anti-discrimination Policy (ADP) and Policy on Relationship Violence and Sexual Misconduct (RVSM). OCR ISR staff is available to provide information on the policies, connect MSU community members to resources, investigate complaints, and provide training.
What is an incident of discrimination or harassment?
Discrimination or harassment is verbal or non-verbal conduct that is threatening, harassing, intimidating, discriminatory or hostile and is based on a category protected under the ADP.
When an incident has been reported, the primary concern is the impact on the group or person targeted. The targeted group or person is empowered and given choices to address the incident. Our staff also works closely with the group or person targeted to provide support and ensure their well-being.
How do I report an incident?
