Student Involvement and Leadership

It’s no secret that Michigan State University is a huge place. That’s why it’s a great idea to develop your community of friends and people you can rely on. One of the best ways to build these relationships is by joining a club or organization here on campus, and you can do this without needing to leave your neighborhood! These student body organizations provide opportunities to develop your leadership skills and prepare you for life beyond college.

  • Residence Halls Association

The MSU Residence Halls Association (RHA) is the voice and government for on-campus residents and is dedicated to improving the on-campus living experience and providing many services to students. RHA provides services such as:

    • Campus Center Cinemas – RHA provides the opportunity to watch movies in various locations around campus before they are available for streaming. Admission is free.
    • Health and Safety Programs – In collaboration with Student Health Services, RHA offers cold and flu packs, as well as condoms free of charge for RHA taxpayers.
    • RHA TV and RHA On-Demand – Residents can tune in to channels 22.4 and 22.5 (digital) or 11 and 12 (analog) at any time to see a number of scheduled movies and student-created content. Students can also visit RHA On-Demand from the MSU network and stream digital movies.
    • Special Events – Throughout the year, RHA puts on events such as concerts, comedians, carnivals, neighborhood events, and cultural events. RHA partners with and sponsors many constituent groups and other student organizations to provide events.
    • Funding for Hall Governments, Black Caucuses and LGBTQ+ Caucuses – RHA provides a budget each semester for these organizations. In addition, groups can request funds through the Committee on Budget for special events and tangible items for residence hall use.
    • For more information about RHA, visit their website or follow them on social. Also consider joining a Hall Government, a Black Caucus, or an LGBTQ+ Caucus!
  • University Activities Board

UAB strives to provide unique, high-quality experiences that contribute to student growth. Involving the diverse student body, UAB aspires to have a substantial impact on campus life and for every student to graduate with a UAB memory.

  • Associated Students of Michigan State University

The Associated Students of Michigan State University (ASMSU) is the undergraduate student government of Michigan State. These communities are represented by four student organizations: North American Indigenous Student Organization (NAISO), Black Student Alliance (BSA), Asian Pacific American Student Organization (APASO) and Culturas de las Razas Unidas (CRU). These communities help students to better understand themselves and others through cultural and social activities. Additionally, these communities serve as advocates for their members by staying abreast of issues that impact their respective community and by working with university faculty, staff and administration in addressing concerns.
