Between Semester Housing 2019-20

As you prepare for the final month of classes, start to consider your plans for housing during winter break. All residents not planning to remain on campus during winter break must be out of residence halls by 8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 13 and cannot move back in until 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, January 5.

If you know you need to stay an extra day or two at the end of finals week or move back in a bit early before spring semester, soon, you will be able to log into your My Housing account and select “Book my Between Semester Housing stay” to request either a late stay or an early arrival.

  • If you need to stay until Saturday, December 14, there will be no extra charge to your student account.
  • If you need to stay until Sunday, December 15, there will be a one-night room charge to your student account.
  • If you are moving back in on Saturday, January 4, there will be no extra charge to your student account.
  • If you need to arrive on Friday, January 3, there will be a one-night room charge to your student account.

Log into your My Housing account and select “Book my Between Semester Housing stay” to reserve your space for winter housing.

The winter housing contract runs from Monday, December 16 through Thursday, January 2. Students staying on campus for the entire break or just part of the break will pay a flat fee of $315 that includes 30 meal passes at The Vista at Shaw Dining Hall. Therefore, if you need to stay until December 16 or a bit later in order to catch a flight, we suggest you book a room at the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center for a rate of $70 per night plus tax. For more information or to book at Kellogg, call 517-884-8121.

Information about residence hall access, dining options, and resources available on campus during winter break is coming soon.

Students staying on-campus over winter break should also be aware of the changes in hours of operation for staff. The primary desk in each neighborhood will be open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Resident Assistants will be on duty from 7 p.m. until 7 a.m. Students will have to use their IDs to scan into residence halls during winter break.

No matter where you end up this winter break, we hope all Spartans have a safe, happy, and relaxing few weeks.
