Spartan Village Redevelopment

At the Oct. 25, 2013 Michigan State University Board of Trustees meeting, Residential and Hospitality Services was granted authorization to plan for the development of student family housing and closure of Spartan Village Apartments in 2017. The 2008 and 2013 MSU Strategic Plans for RHS stated and reinforced the University’s commitment to providing housing for families, graduate and international students. The plans also identified a need to close Spartan Village Apartments.

The division is moving forward with this strategic directive and has begun the process of studying the redevelopment and closure of Spartan Village in 2017. We are exploring ways to best meet the needs of our campus community. Throughout the planning process, as well as during implementation, we will work collaboratively with appropriate partners throughout the campus community. While replacement options for Spartan Village Apartments have yet to be determined, MSU maintains its commitment to housing for families and international students.
