Permanent Wi-Fi Expanding to All Residence Hall Rooms

Residential and Hospitality Services (RHS), in partnership with the Associated Students of Michigan State University (ASMSU) and the MSU Residence Halls Association (RHA), has committed to having Wi-Fi overlay in all residence hall rooms by the beginning of the 2018-19 academic year.

The division has been strategically investing in Wi-Fi in residence halls for years and were able to have MSU IT install permanent Wi-Fi in Emmons Hall, Shaw Hall and University Village rooms over the spring break week. This brings us to 63 percent of residence hall rooms being equipped with permanent Wi-Fi. Remaining halls will be completed over the summer, and all communities have Wi-Fi available in public areas. Permanent Wi-Fi in rooms means there is no longer a need to supply a personal router to create a Wi-Fi signal, improving coverage and service. It’s faster, more secure and helps our residents focus on their academic success.

Thank you to the team who helped get these three communities connected to Wi-Fi over break and for the commitment to installing Wi-Fi in all of our communities by fall semester 2018. We are pleased to provide better internet service to our residents.
