Michigan State University’s guest housing options are conveniently located on campus and designed to support both short- and long-term housing needs for faculty, staff and visiting scholars as well as their families.

Staff and faculty relocating to the East Lansing area or experiencing life events that require temporary housing are invited to stay at either Spartan Village apartments or The Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center.

Visiting scholars requiring housing during their time at MSU are invited to stay in either of the following guest housing locations, depending on the duration of their stay:

SPARTAN VILLAGE

Located on the southwest edge of campus, Spartan Village apartments offer the comfort of community living with the convenience of on-campus amenities.

AMENITIES

  • Twin beds (doubles available for married couples)
  • Fully furnished (desk, chair, dresser, sofa, bed, refrigerator, stove)
  • Internet (Ethernet cable required), cable and phone service
  • Barrier-free housing
  • Designated parking: contact MSU Police Parking Office at 517-355-8440 or at 1120 Red Cedar Road (normal business hours: Monday – Friday, 7:30 a.m.–4:45 p.m.)

RATES

2017-18 rates:

  • One-bedroom units (max. occupancy: two): $871
  • Two-bedroom units (max. occupancy: five): $1,028
  • VIP one-bedroom units (max. occupancy: two; includes linens, towels, dishes and utensils): $917  
  • VIP two-bedroom units (max. occupancy: five; includes linens, towels, dishes and utensils): $1,079

No credit checks or deposits are needed, just the first month's rent is due at lease signing.

OWEN HALL

One of Michigan State’s 27 residence halls, Owen Hall is ideal for visiting scholars looking for a living environment conducive to study, along with the privacy of a single room. Located in Michigan State’s beautiful River Trail Neighborhood, Owen also places guests near the Red Cedar River Trail and the shops and restaurants of Grand River Avenue.

AMENITIES

  • Furnished with small refrigerator, microwave, alarm clock, bed, desk, dresser, linens and towels
  • Trash emptied, linen exchanged and bathroom cleaned once / week.
  • Bathroom shared with adjoining room (suites are gender specific
  • Internet (Ethernet cable required), cable and phone service
  • Air conditioning in common spaces and public areas
  • Community kitchen, ATM, filtered water and ice machine, free laundry, and public computers on lower level
  • Recreation room (pool table, ping pong table, TVs), study lounges and group study rooms on lower level
  • Short-term, coin-operated parking in front of the hall

KELLOGG HOTEL AND CONFERENCE CENTER

Located on campus in Brody Neighborhood, The Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center provides the perfect hospitality experience with comfortable and ample hotel rooms close to The Breslin Student Events Center and Brody Square. Kellogg is perfect for a short visit to Michigan State.

Michigan State University’s award-winning Culinary Services team provides residents with dining excellence 7 a.m. to midnight, seven days a week. With nine residential dining halls, each neighborhood offers made-to-order, fresh and healthy options, so you are sure to eat well while working on campus. Residential Dining Hall

Meal rates:

You can purchase your meal at the door of any residential dining hall.

  • Breakfast: $6.75 (plus tax)
  • Lunch, Dinner, Late-night: $10.49 (plus tax)
  • Children* ages two-to-nine years: $5.75 (plus tax)
  • * Children under two years eat free. Get the best value by purchasing a dining plan.

When you pre-purchase your meals in blocks of 10 meals, you’ll pay just $6.75 per meal and all your meals will be conveniently loaded onto your MSU ID.
