Future Students Neighborhoods

On Campus

Campus Living Services has a wide variety of housing options to meet the needs of students at all levels, from incoming freshmen to graduate students with families. All housing facilities are staffed with talented Residence Life and Campus Living Services staff who are dedicated to providing Outstanding Spartan Experiences through on-campus living.

All residence hall rooms have furnishings, window coverings, cable TV hook-up, high-speed Internet connections (Ethernet). Basic telephone service includes unlimited campus calling, 400 free local calls per month, caller ID capability and voicemail. Beginning fall 2009, phone land lines will be phased out. Fall 2009, Brody Complex, Mayo and Holden Hall resident rooms will no longer have land lines. Emergency phones will be available on each floor.

Lofts are not encouraged, but are permitted in certain halls provided they meet the loft regulations (PDF).  Lofts are not permitted in the following halls which have loftable modular furniture: Case, Holden, Holmes, Hubbard, Mayo, Shaw, Snyder/Phillips, and Wonders.

Smoking is not permitted inside residence hall building, on decks, balconies or patios; however, it is permitted outside at least 25 feet from building.

Lobby recycling receptacles are available in all halls for cardboard and boxboard, white and mixed paper, plastics #1 and #2 and newspaper. Expanded recycling will be added in the future.

If you would like to help promote recycling and other sustainable practices in your hall, contact sustainability officer Diane Barker at barker@msu.edu.
